60th Birthday Celebrations

"My Birthday is the date when divinity blossoms in your heart," declares Bhagavan exhorting devotees to take to the path of spirituality and divinise their lives. As Bhagawan arrives amongst devotees to bestow joy on them, many wish Him, "Happy Birthday". Swami often says, "I am always happy, give happiness to those who are not happy."

Bhagawan began His 60th Birthday Discourse revealing His infinite glory, His reality thus, The attributes and qualities which were assumed when, to save Prahlada, the Supreme Person came; the attributes and qualities which were assumed when, to save the elephant, the Lotus-eyed came; the attributes and qualities which were assumed when, to save the poor Kuchela the Lord of Veda came; the attributes and qualities which were assumed when, to save the boy, Dhruva, He came from heaven; Now, with all the attributes, all the qualities has come, He whom the gods adore, the refuge of the rejected. The Lord of all the worlds, the Lord of infinite glory, as all existence, as all knowledge and all bliss in one form embodied as Puttaparthi Sathya Sai, the over-lord of all that is.

Bhagavan's Birthday celebrations occupy the place of prominence among the celebrations at Prasanthi Nilayam. A wide array of programmes is always lined up for the Birthday festival. This landmark Birthday celebrations, the 60th Birthday of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba was held from 14th to 24th November 1985.

A peek into the salient features of the VCD: Inauguration of Santhi Vedika in Hill View Stadium, opening of a canteen to cater to the taste of overseas devotees, distribution of cows and calves to villagers from Sri Sathya Sai Taluk and inauguration of state-of-the-art Planetarium, which is named Sri Sathya Sai Space Theatre. All these programmes were personally supervised and actively taken part by Bhagavan. The major contents of the 2 VCDs are listed below:
